Four Basic Health Units in Mogi das Cruzes will have extended hours starting Monday

Four Basic Health Units (UBSs) located in Mogi das Cruzes will begin operating with extended hours starting next Monday, the 26th. The Vila da Prata, Botujuru, Jardim Ivete, and Vila Nova Aparecida units will operate from 7 am to 7 pm.

With this change, the total number of UBSs with extended service announced by the municipal administration will increase from eight to twelve. The city hall justifies this measure with the aim of providing more scheduling options and greater availability of slots for consultations and other procedures.

Prior to this expansion, eight units already had extended service until 7 pm. The complete list of these units published by the City Hall includes Alto Ipiranga, Braz Cubas, Jundiapeba, Vila Suíssa, Santa Tereza, Jardim Camila, Ponte Grande, and Vila Natal.

Overall, the city has 18 UBSs, which offer a range of services such as general practice, pediatrics, gynecology, and obstetrics, in addition to mental health support. These units also provide initial mental health care without the need for prior scheduling and refer patients to specialized municipal network services when necessary.

How to schedule appointments at UBSs?

To book appointments with a general practitioner, pediatrician, or gynecologist, citizens must use the phone number 160, which belongs to the Integrated Health System (SIS). In addition to the 18 traditional UBSs, the municipality has the Jardim Universo UBS, which operates under a different regime and provides 24-hour emergency care.

Additionally, there are 17 Family Health Units (USFs) in the city. The USFs are responsible for vaccination, wound dressing, consultations, and continuous patient monitoring. The teams of these USFs also conduct home visits in registered areas, focusing especially on neighborhoods further from the center, to monitor pregnant women, children, individuals with chronic diseases, and other residents who require periodic care.

The municipal health network also covers other structures, such as Emergency Care Units (UPAs) and the Family Health Units (USFs) themselves, adding to the 24-hour operational units. Each of these facilities is designated to treat different types of cases, ranging from severe emergencies to routine consultations. Knowing which unit to seek in each circumstance can help speed up care and ensure the correct direction for each need.
