The English football club Fulham is studying the possibility of establishing a modern football academy in New Tashkent, utilizing British experience and standards, according to the news agency Dunyo.
The proposal was discussed during a meeting between representatives of the club and diplomats from the Embassy of Uzbekistan in the UK. These negotiations are part of efforts to fulfill instructions from the President of Uzbekistan, given during an open dialogue with investors and entrepreneurs regarding the acceleration of New Tashkent's construction.
Representing Fulham were Hugh Jennings, Head of Football Development, and Brett MacGoldrick, Senior Commercial Manager. The Uzbek side presented measures aimed at developing football in the country, identifying and supporting young talents, as well as constructing modern sports infrastructure.
Participants also discussed issues related to the construction of New Tashkent and plans for developing sports facilities in the city. Representatives of the English club noted Uzbekistan's attention to promoting football and expanding opportunities for young athletes.
Following the discussions, the parties agreed to develop specific cooperation mechanisms to advance this initiative. However, a final decision on opening the academy or the anticipated launch date has not yet been announced.
