Rain and hail fell in some parts of the UAE, forming streams near roads

In the UAE, where cooler days and windy evenings are beginning to be observed, some areas of the country experienced downpours.

Heavy precipitation was recorded in the eastern region of the UAE, causing cars to drive on wet roads. Additionally, there was hail in some places.

According to the National Center of Meteorology, precipitation was expected on Saturday with a drop in temperature. A light or moderate breeze was forecast, and clouds caused dust to rise.

On Saturday, rain fell in Ras Al Khaimah, Kalba, Masafah, and other areas of the eastern region. Footage of wet roads and drivers navigating through hail was presented.

The Storm Center shared video recordings of the rain in Masafah, Marbadah, and Shawka in the Eastern Region. Water accumulated, forming small streams along the curbs while the downpours continued.

The Storm Center also filmed hail inside a car that was falling in Ras Al Khaimah.

Heavy rains and hail fell in the UAE, creating waterfalls in the mountains

Some areas of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) experienced heavy rainfall and hail on Wednesday, October 21, as part of a prolonged period of wet weather in the country.

According to a specialist from the National Center of Meteorology (NCM), the cause was low barometric pressure spreading over the UAE from the southeast, as well as a trough in the upper layers of the atmosphere.

Experts predict five days of continuous rain starting from Tuesday until Saturday, with a possibility of light hail. Although the main amount of precipitation is expected on the eastern coast, as the weather system moves, rain may also be observed in the south and southwest.

Video footage from Masfout, a settlement located near the UAE border, shows waterfalls in the mountains that were formed by runoff rainwater.

Heavy rains in the eastern part of the country, such as in Fujairah, caused road flooding, but cars can still move through the wet streets.

Ras Al Khaimah is one of the rainiest places in the UAE because its geographical location and topography make it more susceptible to wet weather compared to other parts of the country. The video, taken from the Storm Centre's Instagram account, was filmed specifically in Ras Al Khaimah.

Hail has fallen on the UAE for the second consecutive day. The previously shown video was filmed in Masfout. Dr. Ahmed Habib, an NCM meteorologist, had previously told Khaleej Times that the probability of hail in the UAE during this period was unlikely.

Additional rain and foggy conditions expected in the UAE soon

Residents of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) can expect increased precipitation on Tuesday, October 20th. According to the National Center of Meteorology (NCM), convective clouds will begin to form over the eastern regions and spread to some inland and western parts of the country by evening.

Despite the possibility of rain, air temperatures will remain high, reaching up to 41°C in some areas. In Dubai, the maximum temperature is forecast to be 38°C, and in Abu Dhabi—up to 37°C.

The meteorological department has warned that at night and in the morning on Wednesday, it will be humid in several coastal and inland areas, with a possibility of fog or haze formation.

Winds are expected to be light to moderate, changing direction from southeast to northwest. With cloud development, they may strengthen to fresh or strong, reaching speeds from 10 to 25 km/h, and in some cases—up to 50 km/h, which could potentially cause dust lifting.

The sea in the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea is expected to maintain small waves.

Heavy rains and hail hit the Dubai desert in the UAE

Residents of the UAE are noting a weekend during which some areas of the country experienced rain and hail, indicating a shift in weather towards cooler months.

These precipitation events occurred following a previous forecast of winter clouds approaching in mid-October, with the probability of rain expected to increase after mid-autumn. Increased humidity is also anticipated in the first half of autumn, accompanied by early morning fog formation.

On Sunday, the National Center of Meteorology (NCM) issued orange and yellow warnings for certain areas regarding the formation of convective clouds, informing residents about possible rainfall until 19:00 in the eastern and western zones.

Residents were advised to exercise caution when planning outdoor activities and to follow official instructions. Video footage published by the Storm Centre shows moderate and heavy rains on roads in the eastern region, as well as in Khor Fakkan and Al Ajili, east of Shuqi.

One of the videos also shows goats grazing in the rain against a mountain backdrop, providing relief from the current humid atmosphere. Meanwhile, heavy hail fell in the Margam area of Dubai, covering the light brown sand dunes with a white blanket.

The lowest temperature recorded in the Emirates on that day was 21.2°C, with winds in the Jais mountains in Ras Al Khaimah at 6:15 AM. Amid the ongoing period of rain, residents were advised to observe safety measures while driving and to avoid unnecessary travel, remaining vigilant to ensure the safety of all road users.

Citizens were also urged to use low beam headlights when visibility decreases, and the NCM cautioned the public against spreading rumors, strongly recommending they monitor official sources of information. In such weather conditions, the police typically urge drivers to exercise caution and adhere to variable speed limits indicated on signs and electronic displays.

Authorities emphasized the importance of staying away from dangerous areas, advising residents to avoid valleys, low-lying areas, and flood-prone zones, and not to attempt crossing flooded wadis. Furthermore, it is recommended to stay away from beaches, the sea, and mountainous regions during unstable weather, and to prevent children from playing in standing water.

According to data from the National Center of Meteorology (NCM), the average maximum temperature at the beginning of the autumn season was 39°C and is expected to drop to 26°C. In the middle of the season, around early November, highs of 31°C and lows of 18°C are expected. By the end of the season, temperatures will fall to 25°C, reaching a minimum of 13°C, coinciding with the winter solstice on December 22.
