NMC Considers Five-Year Rotation Term for Department Heads Following Stakeholder Feedback

The National Medical Commission (NMC) is examining an updated proposal for rotating heads of departments (HoDs) in medical colleges every five years. This change comes after receiving feedback from stakeholders, differing from the initial proposal of a three-year term.

The original draft amendment to the Postgraduate Medical Education Regulations of 2023 proposed rotating the department head position every three years among relevant professors and associate professors, based on work experience. However, about a year and a half after this draft was published, the issue remains unresolved.
