Monstera Plant: According to Feng Shui, It Promotes Wealth Increase and How to Place It Correctly at Home

People often use various houseplants to decorate their homes, but some of them are considered not only decorative elements but also symbols of prosperity and happiness. One such plant is Monstera Deliciosa. Thanks to its large, green leaves with a unique texture, this species is very popular for interior design. According to Feng Shui principles, it is associated with positive energy, growth, and well-being.

There is a belief that placing this plant in the right spot in the house helps create a favorable atmosphere. Specifically, in Feng Shui, the southeast sector of the house is considered an area associated with wealth and prosperity. Therefore, if you plan to purchase a Monstera, it is important to know where best to place it and how to care for it properly.

Monstera Deliciosa is a tropical plant recognized by its large, bright green leaves that have natural holes. It can be easily grown in a pot indoors, provided it receives sufficient light, water, and space to grow.

In the concept of Feng Shui, plants are viewed as a symbol of nature, development, and life energy. The growing leaves of the Monstera are also associated with the idea of progress and moving forward. This is why some people prefer to place it both in living areas and on workplaces. It should be noted that these are traditional beliefs related to Feng Shui.

Placement in the Southeast Direction of the House
According to Feng Shui, the southeast direction is considered an area of wealth and prosperity. It is believed that placing lush plants in this part of the house can symbolize economic well-being and growth. In accordance with this belief, this spot is suitable for placing a Monstera, as it supposedly promotes increased money.

Placement Near the Main Entrance
The main entrance to the house is viewed in Feng Shui as a critical point for the entry of energy. Placing a Monstera near the door is associated with creating a positive and welcoming atmosphere. However, the plant should be positioned so that it does not obstruct the opening, closing, or passage through the door.

Placement in the Living Room
Placing a Monstera in the living room gives the home a natural and attractive look. Within Feng Shui, green plants are associated with vitality and development. You can place it in an unoccupied corner of the room or near a window where there is enough diffused light.

Placement on a Desk or in a Home Office
If you work from home, you can place a Monstera next to your desk. In Feng Shui, plants symbolize development and moving forward. Having greenery in the workplace can make the environment more pleasant. It is only important to ensure the plant has enough space and does not interfere with work.

Besides choosing the right location, plant care is extremely important. Monstera should not be kept under direct intense sunlight, as this can cause leaf scorching. Therefore, it should be placed where there is sufficient diffused light. You must ensure that water does not stagnate in the pot soil, watering the plant only as needed.

It is also important to regularly clean the leaves from dirt and remove withered leaves. If the plant's roots start coming out of the pot, it is recommended to repot it into a larger container. If there are pets in the house, the plant should be kept out of their reach, as Monstera can be toxic if ingested.

How to grow bougainvillea from cuttings to decorate your home with free flowers

If you want to decorate your balcony, roof, or yard with bright flowers, you do not necessarily have to buy expensive plants from nurseries. You have probably seen bougainvillea bushes growing along roads, in parks, or at the edges of houses. These plants, covered with pink, purple, white, and orange flowers, attract attention from afar. If you like their beauty, you can prepare a new plant at home using a small cutting.

The bougainvillea plant is known for its good tolerance to lack of care while maintaining its beauty. High-quality specimens in nurseries can be expensive. Therefore, preparing a plant from a cutting is an excellent way to bring floral beauty into your home without large expenses. However, this requires correctly choosing a cutting, as well as monitoring the soil and watering.

How to take a cutting from a roadside plant?

To create a new bougainvillea plant, you must first take a healthy and strong cutting from a plant that is neither too young and green nor too old and dry. When cutting the cutting, ensure that it is not too thin and not excessively thick; it should be slightly rigid and show no signs of disease.

Cut the cutting to a length of approximately 6–8 inches. Remove the leaves from the lower part of the cut to allow enough space for planting in the ground.

Preparing the right soil in a pot

For planting the cutting, choose a pot with drainage holes. When selecting soil for bougainvillea, it is important that it does not retain water and allows air to penetrate freely to the roots. To prepare the mixture, you can use approximately 40% loam soil, 30% well-rotted manure, 20% coarse sand, and 10% coconut fiber. If you do not have coconut fiber, it can be replaced with some leaf compost.

After filling the pot with soil, bury the lower part of the cutting about 2–3 inches deep. Gently compact the soil around it so that the cutting is firmly secured.

Mistakes to avoid after planting the cutting

After planting the cutting, the most important thing is to maintain slight moisture in the soil, but avoid waterlogging. In the initial stage, place the pot in a location where direct intense sunlight does not fall, but where there is sufficient light. Water only when the top layer of the soil begins to dry out.

Many people make the mistake of placing the cutting in strong sun immediately after planting or watering it too often. This can lead to the cutting drying out or the bottom part rotting. Therefore, initially give the plant time to adapt and try not to overwater the soil.

New growth can appear in about a month

If the cutting is healthy and receives the correct soil, moisture, and light, new leaves may begin to appear within a few weeks. Signs of root formation and new growth can usually be noticed after about 30–45 days, although the timing may vary.

When the cutting starts to root and new leaves appear, gradually move the plant to a place where it will receive more sun. Bougainvillea needs a sufficient amount of light for good growth and flowering. Once the plant is strong, it can be transplanted into a larger pot or a place where its vines can spread freely.

The biggest advantage of using bougainvillea cuttings is that you do not need to buy a new plant from a nursery every time. Several cuttings can be taken from one healthy plant and planted in different pots. However, it is not guaranteed that every cutting will sprout.

Thus, with a little effort and proper care, you can grow beautiful bougainvillea plants on your balcony, roof, or in your yard. When the plant starts to grow actively and bloom, a corner of your home will become colorful and picturesque.
