Carlos Alberto de Nóbrega, a comedian, was discharged from the hospital in the afternoon on Friday (the 23rd) after undergoing a pacemaker implantation surgery. The 90-year-old comedian does not yet have a prognosis for returning to record for the program 'A Praça é Nossa' on SBT channel.
He had been receiving treatment at Sírio-Libanês Hospital in São Paulo since last Friday (the 16th). The surgery was performed on Tuesday (the 20th), and according to information released by his press service, the procedure was successful.
Hospitalization occurred after Carlos Alberto contracted Coxsackie virus type 2, which exacerbated his pre-existing condition of heart failure. Due to the deterioration of his condition, he developed bradycardia—a condition characterized by a slowing of heart rate—as well as other arrhythmias, which provided the basis for the pacemaker installation.
Carlos Alberto de Nóbrega first admitted to the medical center to examine symptoms that had persisted for several months, such as fatigue and malaise. His hospitalization was announced on Friday (the 16th) via the social media of his wife, Renata de Nóbrega, who is a doctor.
His wife also contracted this virus, but she did not require hospitalization and feels well. On Wednesday (the 21st), the comedian first appeared on social media after the operation. He was photographed next to his wife, Renata de Nóbrega, and Father Antônio Mário, who visited him in the hospital. The photo was published by Renata with the caption: 'Blessed visit. Everything is going well'.
