OFEBAS holds sixth special All Souls' Day event themed 'Songs of Memory' in Sorocaba

On the 2nd, OFEBAS promoted the sixth edition of its special All Souls' Day event, under the theme 'Songs of Memory' and the motto 'Longing has a sound, and it plays inside us'. The initiative aims to provide a welcoming and sensitive experience, using music as a means to celebrate memories, affection, and stories of those who have passed away.

The event, which was free and open to the public, took place from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM near the Sorocaba Municipal Library. The program included live musical performances with piano and voice, the possibility for participants to record affectionate messages, and the creation of a collective sculpture in the shape of a harp.

Voice Recording and Collective Sculpture

A focal point of the program was the recording of voice testimonials. Attendees could record small dedications, memories, narratives, or musical excerpts that marked their lives with loved ones. These recordings will be compiled into an audiovisual and sonic material for the 6th OFEBAS All Souls' Day Event, which will be shared on the organization's social media.

Additionally, a collective sculpture in the shape of a harp was set up, exclusive to this edition. During the event, the public was invited to personalize musical symbols with names, phrases, drawings, or memories. After being painted, these symbols were hung on the harp, resulting in a work built through everyone's participation.

Jennifer Lucchesi, OFEBAS communications manager and curator of the All Souls' Day Event, explained that all editions are conceived based on metaphors related to life, memory, and persistent bonds. The themes are carefully selected to guide the tribute in a welcoming manner.

She detailed that 'the sculpture represents the idea that every memory has its own sound. Just as a harp needs different strings to produce harmony, the work will bring together different stories, affections, and tributes in a single visual and symbolic composition.' After the event concluded, the artwork will remain on display at one of OFEBAS' units.

All Souls' Day Events Since 2021

Since 2021, OFEBAS has been promoting artistic manifestations on All Souls' Day with the purpose of transforming this date into a moment of tribute, expression, and welcome. These activities are accessible to the community and always incorporate symbolic elements that help people express their feelings and celebrate the memory of their loved ones.

Patrícia Peixoto, General Manager of OFEBAS, emphasized that the All Souls' Day Event serves as a way to embrace longing and offer sensitive avenues for families to externalize their feelings. She highlighted: 'Music has the capacity to access very deep places in our memory. Sometimes, a song immediately takes us to a person, a moment, a story. This year, we want families to be able to transform these memories into a tribute, whether through voice, art, or participation in building the collective sculpture.'

Participation in the event is free and does not require prior scheduling; attendees just need to show up at the specified location on the day and time.

In past years, OFEBAS has organized events such as 'Color Your Feeling', 'Memories That Color the World', 'Tree of Life', 'Train of Life', and 'Book of Life: Tribute to Our Stories', all aiming to convert memories into experiences of tribute, collectivity, and welcome. More information about these actions can be found on the OFEBAS YouTube channel (@ofebassocial).
