The Central Bank of Uzbekistan has officially denied reports regarding plans to issue a banknote with a denomination of 1 million sums. These rumors began circulating on social media several days ago.
According to data provided by the regulator's press service, these publications included a counterfeit banknote mockup featuring the first president of Uzbekistan, Islam Karimov. The Central Bank categorically labeled this information as false, unfounded, and fake, noting that it does not correspond to reality.
The regulator urged citizens to obtain verified information exclusively through the official channels of the Central Bank.
Furthermore, a design for a 500 thousand sum banknote, executed in the style of the era of Mirzo Ulugbek, which was allegedly being prepared for circulation, had previously circulated online. The Central Bank also stated that this information is unsubstantiated.
