An international group of researchers assessed the energy of the chemical bond between the siborgium atom and the carbon monoxide molecule in the hexacarbonyl Sg(CO)6 compound.
The data obtained showed that the energy of this bond was four kilojoules per mole lower than in the comparable tungsten complex. This observation occurs against the backdrop that the strength of such a bond increases for several elements in Group 6 when transitioning from chromium to tungsten.
The results of this scientific investigation align with preliminary calculations suggesting that relativistic effects lead to a weakening of the interaction between siborgium and carbon monoxide. The findings were officially published in the journal Nature.
