Packaging manufacturers turn to technologies at Propak Cape 2026 exhibition

The Propak Cape exhibition is returning to Cape Town from October 27 to 29, 2026. The event will bring together over 200 exhibitors demonstrating the latest advancements in packaging, plastics, printing, labeling, and food processing sectors.

Compared to the previous event in 2023, which had 190 participants, the 2026 edition will offer visitors broader opportunities to explore technologies and solutions aimed at solving modern industry challenges. These challenges include increasing efficiency, cost management, maintaining stability, and meeting evolving demands from customers, the market, and sustainability principles.

A central part of Propak Cape is the opportunity to personally experience the technologies. Live demonstrations will allow guests to see equipment and solutions in action, compare different technologies, and communicate directly with suppliers, technical specialists, and industry experts.

Key areas of focus include automation and end-line solutions, labeling and coding, enhancing packaging efficiency, applications in the food and beverage industry, and developments in eco-friendly and recyclable packaging.

Among the presented technologies, SloniTec will demonstrate its Aseptic Bag in Box filler, designed to extend product shelf life at room temperature. Progetto will present an automated solution for packaging cardboard boxes that can be integrated into production lines. Goldpack will showcase its collaboration with GroupMosca, including solutions for stretch wrapping, wrapping, and end-line packaging, while REA South Africa will demonstrate labeling and coding applications at various stages of production.

Sustainability issues will also play a significant role, focusing on developments in recyclability, design simplification, mono-material packaging, and more efficient packaging formats. Visitors will be able to see examples such as Tetra Pak's Tetra Recart cardboard packaging for long-life tuna, and the 750 ml Eco-Flat wine bottle developed for the South African wine market by Polyoak Packaging in collaboration with Packamama, Safripol, and Stellenbosch Vineyards.

In addition to the exhibition itself, a free seminar program organized by Institute of Packaging SA will provide information on technologies, industry best practices, and legislative changes. With over twenty years of experience, Propak Cape gives packaging and recycling specialists the opportunity to find solutions, learn about new technologies, connect with industry experts, and determine practical ways to improve their operations.

Propak Cape 2026 will take place from October 27 to 29, 2026, at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC).
