China reaches the semi-finals of men's and women's Asian Tennis Championships

China successfully advanced to the semi-finals of the men's and women's team tournaments at the 2026 Asian Tennis Championships, held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. This was made possible by the team's victories over Iran and Thailand, respectively, with both wins secured on Wednesday.

In the men's quarter-final, Lin Shidong secured China's first point by defeating Benjamin Faraji from Iran with a score of 11-3, 11-5, 6-11, 11-3. Subsequently, Xiang Peng beat Noshad Alamian with a score of 11-8, 15-13, 13-11, and Zhou Cihao concluded the Chinese team's triumph by defeating Nimu Alamian with a score of 11-8, 11-8, 11-7.

After the match, Lin noted the growing strength of Iran, emphasizing that China prepared for a difficult confrontation. He stated: 'Iran has achieved very good results in recent years, and their overall strength has significantly improved. We faced difficulties against them a couple of years ago. They have excellent players and they are a very strong team. The main reason we were able to win today was our readiness to handle the challenges at the table.'

In the semi-final, the Chinese men's team will face Taipei on Thursday.

In the women's team tournament, the quarter-final began with Kuai Man defeating Sutasini Savetthabut from Thailand with a score of 11-6, 11-3, 11-5. Next, Wang Yidi won another match in three sets, overcoming Orawan Paranang with a score of 11-6, 11-7, 11-5. Chen Yi secured China's place in the semi-finals by defeating Jinnipu Savetthabut with a score of 11-6, 11-5, 8-11, 11-5.

On Thursday, the Chinese women's team will play against the Republic of Korea, and both teams—men's and women's—are aiming to reach their continental finals.
