The WagonR is a popular car in the Indian market, which Maruti Suzuki has been selling for several years. This vehicle is available not only in India but also in many other countries. The company plans to launch a restyling of this model in the Indian market, while its new version has already arrived in Japan.
Suzuki has released the seventh generation of the WagonR in Japan. While this car has a 'tall boy' look in India, the focus in Japan is on comfort. Recently, the company shared a video on YouTube demonstrating all the features of this vehicle.
The video shows the WagonR with Japanese specifications, which Suzuki published on its channel in Japan. The design of the new WagonR looks quite different from the version that will be released in India. This car closely resembles the Toyota Vellfire.
The front fascia of the car has been updated, featuring a large chrome grille, horizontally aligned headlights, and a redesigned bumper. In Japan, it is presented as a Kei-car, measuring 3395 mm in length, 1475 mm in width, and 1650 mm in height. The wheelbase is 2460 mm.
The video also demonstrated ADAS functions, including emergency braking. Several changes were made to the interior: a new dashboard was installed, a large touch multimedia system, wireless support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, and flexible seat configuration.
Attention was also paid to safety features. The new WagonR presented in Japan is equipped with features such as High-Beam Assist, parking sensors, and a 360-degree camera. The company may release this car with a hybrid powertrain.
According to reports, this model will feature a 660 cc three-cylinder engine, providing 54 hp and 58 Nm of torque. An electric motor producing 10 hp and 29 Nm of torque will also be added. The option of an e-CVT transmission is also provided.
It is important to note that the WagonR intended for Japan differs significantly from the model available in India. Although Maruti Suzuki plans to update the current version of the WagonR, it will not include the stylistic elements of the Japanese model. The new WagonR in India may be released by December.
