The film 'Ramayana Part 1,' directed by Nitish Tiwari, has finalized its digital partners ahead of its official release. This project, featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, and Yash, will be broadcast on the JioHotstar platform. The film's team confirmed that the partnership between JioHotstar and Prime Focus Studios Namita Malhotra was concluded on Wednesday.
Following the film 'Dhurandar: The Revenge,' 'Ramayana Part 1' will also appear on JioHotstar. Unlike Ranveer Singh's film, Ranbir Kapoor's film will not be free on this platform; viewers will be able to watch 'Ramayana' through the 'Pay-Per-View' option.
This film is set to release in international cinemas on November 5, 2026, coinciding with the Diwali festival, and will be presented in IMAX 3D format. The filmmakers advise viewers to first experience this epic on the biggest screen before watching it online.
Commenting on this, Nita Ambani, Chairman of the Board of Directors of JioStar, stated in a press release: 'Ramayana is one of India's greatest cultural heritages, a story that has shaped our consciousness for centuries, inspired our imagination, and guided our way of life. As India enters a new era of storytelling, we have a wonderful opportunity to promote our cultural heritage.'
She continued: 'On JioHotstar, our goal is to bring the best stories to every Indian through technology. It is a great honor for us to present this grand cinematic portrayal of Ramayana to families across the country and introduce the new generation to its eternal values such as duty, love, courage, and goodness.'
The 'Pay-Per-View' model means that after the film concludes its theatrical run, viewers can purchase individual access to watch it. According to reports, in India, viewers will get this option on JioHotstar through a special 'On-Demand' feature, rather than a standard subscription.
Namit Malhotra, Producer and CEO of DNEG, stated in his statement: 'I believe Ramayana should be watched on the biggest screen possible, i.e., in IMAX 3D format. However, our country's cinema infrastructure cannot reach everyone who holds this epic so dear. Ramayana belongs to every Indian, and our thinking must reflect that. JioHotstar has repeatedly demonstrated how technology can unite the entire country through its sports and entertainment content. That is why they became the natural partner for delivering Ramayana to people and into their homes after its cinema release.'
'Ramayana Part 1' will release in international cinemas on November 5, 2026, in various formats, including IMAX 3D. Although the film team or JioHotstar has not announced the exact OTT release date or the start of 'Pay-Per-View,' the online broadcast is anticipated to begin around January 2027. According to industry trends, major films usually appear on OTT 8–10 weeks after their cinema premiere.
