The first sale of the iPhone Duo from Apple is scheduled for October 23. However, those who planned to easily purchase this smartphone at the official Apple Store should reconsider their plans. The company issued a statement stating that starting October 23, access to the iPhone Duo will be limited only to visitors who have pre-booked the device.
The company faced high demand during pre-orders, after which devices quickly sold out. The initial price of the iPhone Duo in India is 299,900 rupees. According to a GSMArena report, a limited number of devices will be available for purchase in retail stores in some countries, including the US and Europe.
In Italy, sales will take place in specific stores, while in Macau, retail purchases will only be available on launch day, with a limited quantity of goods.
In countries such as India, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and the UAE, purchasing the iPhone Duo by visiting a store on the first day of sales will not be possible. Buyers will need to book a slot to receive the device through the Apple online store. This process is not simple; people have already been advised to check for product availability again on October 24, although it is currently unknown if booking will be possible on October 23.
According to the report, the main reason for introducing restrictions on retail sales in some regions is crowd control. Furthermore, this measure is aimed at combating speculators who acquire devices first and then sell them at higher prices.
Apple has set a limit on the number of iPhone Duo purchases, allowing one person to buy a maximum of two devices. For those who have already placed a pre-order, the situation is positive.
The iPhone Duo is a foldable smartphone with dual displays: the internal display measures 7.6 inches, and the external display measures 5.4 inches. Both displays support a 120Hz refresh rate. The device uses the Powerpul A20 Pro chipset, which supports storage up to 2 TB.
The smartphone is equipped with a dual rear camera system. The main camera is a 48-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens. The external screen features a 12-megapixel camera module, and the internal screen has a 4-megapixel lens.
