Center plans to introduce mandatory requirement for Emergency Braking System (AEBS) for cars starting in October 2030

The government is taking steps to reduce the number of road traffic accidents, and as a result, several driver assistance system (ADAS) functions will become mandatory for vehicles, especially taxis.

According to information obtained by TOI, starting from October 2030, all new car models must be equipped with an Emergency Braking System (AEBS), which is a key ADAS function.

Furthermore, for commercial transport, a mandatory requirement has also been introduced for the presence of blind spot detection systems, movement information, driver drowsiness detection with alerts, and lane departure warning.

As for models produced before 2030, the AEBS system will become mandatory for them starting in October 2032.
