Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, a union affiliated with the RSS, opened its first office in the Kashmir valley on Sunday in the village of Barsu, located at the foot of the Zabarwan mountain range. This office is approximately five kilometers from the Lethpora highway, where an attack occurred in Pulwama in February 2019.
Samir Huchai, 36, who is responsible for the BMS division in Kashmir, reported that the organization previously operated from a small rented space in Shivpora, Srinagar. He noted: 'This is now our first divisional office, and it is in Pulwama. One could say this is the first office of RSS ideology in Kashmir.'
Huchai added that most unions affiliated with BMS were located in South Kashmir, so the office was moved to its current location. According to Huchai, BMS has been actively working in Kashmir since 2020 following the abrogation of Article 370 and currently has 20 registered affiliated unions in the region.
He also mentioned that there were initially many misconceptions about the RSS. However, the BMS employee stated that over the years he has managed to convince people that the RSS is not anti-Muslim but advocates for labor and the people. Huchai emphasized: 'Our affiliated unions and their members know well that BMS follows the RSS ideology, but they also know that we are not puppets of the BJP. We provide everything genuine that our workers ask for, and they trust us.'
