2027 Ford Ranger may adopt a 385 hp V6 engine and potentially surpass the Raptor in torque

The Ford Ranger sold in the United States will receive a mechanical update for the 2027 lineup, introducing a higher capacity V6 engine. According to a supposed order guide for the pickup truck published by the Autoevolution website, the 2.7L twin-turbo gasoline V6 engine will be replaced by a less powerful version of the 3.0L twin-turbo V6, currently used in the Ranger Raptor.

This change follows a pattern seen in the 2027 Bronco SUV, where the three-liter engine generates 385 hp and 60.8 kgfm; similar specifications are expected for the pickup truck.

If this change is confirmed, the standard Ranger version would have more torque than the Raptor itself, which currently delivers 411 hp and 59.4 kgfm in the US. Due to this projection, there are speculations that Ford will also need to recalibrate the Ranger Raptor.

For entry-level versions, the four-cylinder 2.3L turbo engine will maintain its configuration, providing 274 hp and 42.9 kgfm in the XL, XLT, and Lariat variants.

In terms of external design, the XLT and Lariat versions will receive grille trim renovations, and the entire line will gain new wheel options. Furthermore, Neptune blue will replace Velocity blue, and Carbonized gray will no longer be offered.

Inside, the XL version will be updated, replacing the 10.1-inch multimedia center with a 12-inch one and including dual-zone digital air conditioning as standard equipment.

The Lariat and Raptor variants will feature an optional luxury package that includes ambient lighting, rain sensor wipers, power-folding rearview mirrors, memory function driver seat, and a ten-speaker B&O sound system. The Lariat version will also gain heated steering wheel.

Currently, the most affordable Ranger in the US, the XL, has an initial price equivalent to R$ 176.7 thousand (US$ 35,445, including shipping). However, in Brazil, this modification should not have a direct impact, as the Ranger sold in the country is produced in Argentina and uses diesel engines, and the 2.7L gasoline V6 has never been offered.

The 3.0L twin-turbo gasoline V6 is only available in the Ranger Raptor, which is imported from Thailand, costing R$ 499 thousand and delivering 397 hp and 59.4 kgfm.
