Uzbekistan introduces special accounts for insolvent enterprises

Uzbekistan has amended the rules for maintaining bank accounts for companies undergoing insolvency proceedings by introducing special accounts to manage their funds.

These amendments were officially registered by the Ministry of Justice on October 20, 2026, under number 3420-3. According to the new rules, the bank is obliged to open a special account for the enterprise as soon as rehabilitation, external management, or liquidation procedures are initiated.

Furthermore, outgoing transactions from both the main and secondary company accounts will be suspended. All remaining balances and all subsequent receipts will be transferred to this special account.

Payment documents submitted to the main and secondary accounts, including fund collection orders and decisions restricting account operations, will be returned to the organizations or bodies that issued them without execution.

Funds held in the special account can only be managed based on a payment order issued by the client or an administrator appointed by the court.

In addition, the changes expand citizens' access to information about their bank accounts. Individuals can now request information about all their accounts in any bank, whereas previously they had to contact only the bank where the main account was opened.

It also became possible to use biometric passports for international travel when opening a bank account. The new procedures are expected to simplify settlements for businesses experiencing financial difficulties and create conditions for restoring their solvency.
