KENT RO invests 250 crore rupees in lithium battery and inverter manufacturing business

KENT RO Systems, previously known as a water purifier manufacturer, has diversified its operations into the clean energy solutions sector by investing 250 crore rupees in a lithium battery and inverter manufacturing plant in Noida.

The company's new division, named Kent New Energy, initially has an installed annual capacity of 3.5 GWh, but management plans to increase this capacity to 10 GWh within the next six months, thereby entering the energy storage systems market.

The energy storage systems offered by the company combine lithium batteries with solar hybrid inverters. These batteries, with capacities ranging from 5.1 kWh to 16 kWh, are designed to store solar and grid energy for use in the evening or during power outages.

The production utilizes cells supplied by manufacturers such as EVE and REPT. The products will be sold through KENT RO's existing dealer network, retail stores, and online channels. Additionally, hybrid inverters and larger battery packs will be available through integration and EPC system partners.

Mahesh Gupta, Chairman and Managing Director, noted that batteries and inverters remain quite expensive currently, and components like cells continue to be imported. He emphasized the need to maintain continuous production and ensure raw material availability.

The inverter battery market in India is estimated at approximately $1.31 billion and is expected to grow at double-digit rates until 2031, with lithium-ion batteries and hybrid inverters projected to grow even faster.

The company reported that its hybrid inverter is equipped with a 4G data logger and a five-year data package. Through the KENT central command mobile application, installers can monitor the current status of each installed inverter and change settings remotely. Data is stored on KENT servers in India, complying with the requirements of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).
