Hyundai prepares to launch new SUV Bayon with 35 safety features and ADAS

Hyundai plans to introduce the new Bayon crossover model to the Indian market. This vehicle was presented globally, and its official launch in India is scheduled for October 26. Before the start of sales, Hyundai Motor India has already revealed several characteristics of this model.

The Bayon will occupy a position between the Venue and Creta models in the company's lineup. The car will be equipped with an ADAS Level 2 Pro system, which includes 23 different functions. Additionally, the car comes standard with 35 safety features, available even in the base configuration.

Hyundai developed this model based on its global K Enhanced platform. The car body is designed using 69% high-strength steel with a multi-stage structure. The company positions the Bayon as a vehicle that meets the 5-star safety standard in India.

Hot-stamped components were used to reinforce the structure in critical areas such as the front bumper, dashboard, rear floor, and side reinforcements. The Bayon integrates the Hyundai SmartSense Level 2 Pro ADAS system, consisting of 23 functions, and is fitted with 3 radars and 12 parking sensors.

The standard configuration includes 35 features, including 6 airbags, ESC, Hill Start Assist Control, TPMS, and rollover sensors. The new Hyundai Bayon, expected on October 26, will be available in 10 color options, offered in monotone, two-tone, and matte finishes.

The Bayon is equipped with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine capable of producing 115 horsepower and 142.8 Nm of torque. Although there is speculation about a possible CNG version, this has not been confirmed. If a CNG version appears, the Bayon will become the first SUV from Hyundai over 4 meters long equipped with this fuel type.

The car will be available in ten colors, including Titanium Black, Classy White, Atlas White, Fiery Red, Golden Bronze, and Electric Grey Monotone. Titanium Black Matte and Classy Blue Matte variants will also be offered. Information on the prices of the Bayon will be announced on October 26.

Hyundai confirms it will keep the HB20 as the entry-level car in 2027, in the range of R$ 90 thousand to R$ 100 thousand

Hyundai informed the press that the HB20 model will continue to be sold in 2027 as the brand's entry-level car in Brazil. The versions of this hatchback will be concentrated in the price range between R$ 90 thousand and R$ 100 thousand, and its presence will not be replaced by the arrival of the i20.

This strategic reorganization aims to prevent the two compact vehicles from competing for the same consumer. The i20, which was introduced in June, will be positioned at a higher level, situated between the hatchback models and SUVs.

Currently, the prices of the two models are very close: the HB20 starts at R$ 96,140, while the i20 starts at R$ 99,990. Above these values will be the Creta and, in the future, the Bayon, a compact SUV derived from the i20, expected in 2027.

At the moment, the HB20 registers a significantly higher sales volume than its counterpart. According to Fenabrave, 53,589 units were registered between January and September. In September alone, the hatchback achieved 6,314 registrations, which is more than four times higher than the 1,404 registered by the i20.

To remain at the base of the product line, the HB20 will favor versions equipped with the 1.0 naturally aspirated engine, as, according to Hyundai itself, these versions have historically represented the largest share of the model's sales. However, the manufacturer did not specify whether the turbo options will be discontinued.

Furthermore, there are plans to launch a new version that will incorporate more technology and comfort features for a price under R$ 100 thousand. Details regarding name, price, and equipment list will be disclosed in the coming months.

Among the commercial initiatives planned for 2027, the year the HB20 will complete 15 years in the market, there will be an offer targeted at micro-entrepreneurs who use the vehicle for passenger transport via applications. This specific audience will have differentiated purchase conditions for the Comfort version, and this modality will also cover versions of the i20 and Creta.

The HB20, originally launched in October 2012, was the first Hyundai vehicle developed and manufactured in Brazil. Currently, the hatchback, the i20, and the Creta share the assembly lines of the brand's factory located in Piracicaba, São Paulo.

Maruti Suzuki tests updated WagonR that may offer 34 km/l fuel consumption

Maruti Suzuki is updating its compact cars in 2026. This year the company updated the Brezza and Baleno models, and the WagonR may be the next model to receive an update. Thus, an updated version of the Maruti Suzuki WagonR could soon be seen.

The updated version of this car has been spotted multiple times during testing. According to CarTok, an updated version of the Maruti Suzuki WagonR can be expected this year. The main change in the updated WagonR may be a new engine.

A camouflaged car was recently spotted. This spy shot suggests possible changes to the car's design. Regarding the exterior, the new WagonR is likely to retain a look similar to the current model, featuring a tall and angular design.

Additionally, the car might feature vertically oriented taillights. The company may also change the headlight design, adding a new grille and front bumper. However, none of these design elements were clearly visible in the test sample. Overall, the car's appearance is likely to remain largely the same.

Various modifications are expected in the car's interior. The car currently features a 7-inch touchscreen display, which the company may upgrade. The new WagonR might come with a new infotainment system. It is also possible that the front seats will be equipped with headrests integrated into the backrest.

The most significant changes may concern the engine. The current WagonR is available with two engines: a 1.0-liter three-cylinder and a 1.2-liter four-cylinder. These engines provide power of 89 hp and torque of 89 Nm and 113 Nm, respectively.

In the new WagonR, the company may install a 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine, which is used in the new Baleno, Swift, and Dzire models. This engine is lighter and offers better fuel economy. The current CNG consumption for the WagonR is 34 kilometers per kilogram. The car is sold at an exclusive starting price of 4.99 lakh rupees. The company intends to maintain this price for the new model.
