On October 14, a video conference was held at the Sputnik press center dedicated to the results of the work of the Council of Regions of Uzbekistan and Russia. Representatives from Tashkent, Fergana, Omsk, Tomsk, and Krasnoyarsk participated in it.
The event included Ervin Turgunov, Head of the Department of International Cooperation and Protocol of the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan; Azamat Tokhtakhunov, Head of the Department of Investment Attraction and Work with International Brands of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan; Jahongir Isroilov, Deputy Mayor of Fergana city; Andrey Spilenko, Deputy Head of the Omsk Region; and Vasily Potemkin, Deputy Head of the Tomsk Region.
According to Ervin Turgunov, after two major events—the meeting of the Council of Regions and the meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation—the parties have formed a package of initiatives totaling $4.7 billion. These initiatives cover almost all key sectors, including mechanical engineering, construction, food industry, electrical engineering, and petrochemicals, and include investment projects and trade agreements.
It is planned that by the end of 2026, Uzbekistan and Russia will launch 16 joint projects worth about $300 million, which will create more than 1000 jobs in the country.
Particular attention is paid to the development of industrial infrastructure. The construction of a new industrial park in Bekobod city, Tashkent region, with the participation of Bashkortostan, is planned to begin by the end of the year. Three technological parks in Uzbekistan, created with the participation of Russia, are already operational in the Tashkent, Bukhara, and Navoi regions.
The Omsk region is developing joint projects in logistics and agriculture, including the expansion of the wholesale distribution center, as well as testing varieties and livestock projects. The Tomsk region is interested in cooperation in the oil and gas, chemical, and mechanical engineering industries. Discussions include the supply of medical seedlings, sets of wooden houses, and construction equipment, as well as the construction of a logistics center covering 20,000–30,000 square meters. Educational exchange is also an important area: about 1200 students from Uzbekistan study in Tomsk.
Krasnoyarsk Krai has doubled the volume of trade with Uzbekistan over the past year. 204 B2B meetings were held involving more than 30 companies from the Siberian region and 65 Uzbek enterprises. The parties are studying opportunities for localizing production in Uzbekistan and expanding air connections to Fergana and Samarkand.
