Thirty finalists selected for the Local Fashion Police competition by Proudly South African

Thirty participants showcasing their style have been selected for the annual Local Fashion Police competition organized by Proudly South African. The selection process was conducted by leading South African designers after carefully reviewing hundreds of submitted works.

This initiative aims to promote local fashion, design, and creativity, giving participants the opportunity to present their individual style and highlight the talents within the country's fashion industry.

The thirty finalists will compete for exclusive designer outfits valued at 50,000 South African Rand, created by renowned South African couturiers. Furthermore, they will have the chance to walk the runway at the competition's final show.

This year's judging panel includes Mpumelelo «Lele» Dhlamini from Ezokhetho, Thabo Makhetha-Kwinana from Thabo Makhetha, Anel Botha, and Rivaldo Louw from By Waldo. Each designer will select the finalists and develop a unique costume for them that reflects their own design approach.

Eustace Mashimbye, Executive Director of Proudly South African, noted that the large number and high quality of applications made the selection process very challenging. He stated that 'the overwhelming response and the exceptional standard of the submitted work are a testament to the depth of talent, creativity, and innovation in the South African fashion industry.'

Mashimbye added that the grand finale will give the finalists the opportunity to be in the center of attention while highlighting the skill and creative originality of local designers. The list of finalists includes: Morwedi Waga Mashaba, Semakaleng Moeketsi, Thabo Batshe, Adhil Ramnath, Mbalenhle Mbele, Lerato Lee, qondile_qondile, Ntokozo, Carlyn, Awonke Moko, Beauty Mc’dust, Zintle G, Camelia, Natasha Pearce, lindiwe, Abongile Yadah Mungwe, b_inwanderland, Zintle Dyani, sphiwe.maseko, Sara Urbaniak, and Mbaliyez.
