U19 Women's T20 World Cup 2027 Schedule Announced: India Defends Title, Pakistan's Group Determined

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the schedule for the U19 Women's T20 World Cup 2027, which will take place in Bangladesh and Nepal starting January 21. Sixteen teams will participate in this third edition, with 41 matches planned.

The champion team, India, has been placed in Group A alongside Ireland, Nepal, and the West Indies. The Indian squad will begin its tournament journey on January 22 against the West Indies, followed by matches against Nepal on January 24 and Ireland on January 26.

Pakistan has been assigned to Group B. Consequently, a match between India and Pakistan will not occur in the group stage.

Nepal will commence its participation on January 22 against Ireland, while Bangladesh will play its first match on January 21 against the UAE. Tournament matches will be held at four stadiums across both host countries.

In Bangladesh, matches will be held at the Bir Shrestha Shahid Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium and the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. In Nepal, games will take place at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Stadium in the capital city of Kathmandu, as well as at the Upper Mulpani International Cricket Ground.

The group stage will run until January 26. Following this, qualified teams will advance to the Super Six, where they will be divided into two groups. The top two teams from each group will proceed to the semi-finals.

Both semi-final matches are scheduled for February 4 at the Bir Shrestha Shahid Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Chattogram. February 5 is reserved as a reserve day if necessary. The final is planned for February 6, with February 7 designated as a reserve day for the final encounter.

Group A includes India, Ireland, West Indies, and Nepal. Group B consists of South Africa, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Samoa. Group C comprises Australia, Bangladesh, Nigeria, and the UAE. Group D features England, Sri Lanka, America, and Scotland.

Sanjog Gupta, CEO of the ICC, noted that the U19 Women's T20 World Cup provides young athletes with an opportunity to showcase their talent and gain international experience. According to him, the participation of 16 teams will serve as a platform for promoting growing talent in women's cricket and helping developing cricketing nations move forward.

Experts suggest three tactical changes for the Indian team ahead of the decisive T20I against West Indies in Bangalore

In the upcoming fifth T20 International match between India and West Indies in Bangalore, necessary strategic changes for the Indian team are being discussed, which could determine the winner of the series, currently tied at 2-2.

Previously, the Indian team played one match in Bangalore, which ended in a double super over format against the Afghanistan team, where India won. Now, after almost two years, the Indian team will once again take to the field at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore to face the West Indies team. The match, scheduled for Saturday (October 17), will be decisive in determining the series winner.

Throughout the period of games in Bangalore, India has played eight matches, winning four (including the match with the double super over), losing three, and having one match without a winner. In the fourth T20 held in Hyderabad, India lost to West Indies by a margin of 24 runs, which might boost the confidence of the West Indies team before the final confrontation.

In this series, Shreyas Iyer leads the Indian team, and Tilak Varma serves as vice-captain. Despite India previously winning a three-match ODI series 2-1, West Indies has shown serious competition in the T20 format, requiring India to focus on three key aspects before the last match.

The possibility of bringing Kuldeep Yadav back into the squad for the decisive match can be considered. He participated in the first two T20 matches of the series, but was not included in the starting eleven in the third and fourth matches. Kuldeep showed excellent performance in this tour's ODI series, taking seven wickets in three matches, becoming India's most successful bowler. His last T20 International match was on February 15, 2026, against Pakistan. Currently, he has played 54 T20 Internationals for India. Considering that the role of a finger spinner can be important on the Bangalore pitch, his performances could prove useful for India.

Indian batsmen have repeatedly demonstrated a good start to matches, but the run-scoring pace slowed down in the middle of the innings. The team failed to consistently convert strong starts into large scores. M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore, with its small boundaries and fast outfield, may be favorable for batsmen. Therefore, it is crucial to maintain the tempo even in the middle overs. India's middle order needs not only to change positions for shot rotation but also to hit powerfully at poor deliveries. For India to score a strong total in the decisive match, batsmen should play more decisively in the middle overs.

During the series, Indian fast bowlers relied mainly on speed and line of delivery. However, in the conditions of Bangalore, they may need to change their tactics. At the Chinnaswamy Stadium, cutters and deliveries that land heavily on the pitch may be effective. Fast bowlers should actively use variations such as slower balls and changes in pace. This will make it difficult for batsmen to judge the ball's speed. Since the series holds high significance, India needs to develop its game plans considering the specifics of Bangalore.

Fourth T20I between India and West Indies in Hyderabad: Toss expected

The fourth T20 series match between India and West Indies will take place today at the Rajiv Gandhi International Sports Complex in Hyderabad. The toss is scheduled for the near future.

In this five-match series, the Indian team currently leads 2-1 and aims to win today's match to clinch the entire series. For their part, the West Indies team, which is in excellent form, takes the field with the goal of leveling the series score to 2-2.

The Rajiv Gandhi ground has recently been redeveloped, and many exciting moments with a high number of runs are expected on the new, fresh pitch. In the previous T20 match played at this venue, India set its record T20 score of 297 runs, and the average score for the first half of the match here was 230 runs.

The temperature in Hyderabad today may reach 32°C during the day, but it is expected to drop to approximately 27°C by evening. Light clouds are expected in the sky, and the wind will blow at a speed of 10 km/h, creating ideal conditions for an exciting match. Although the probability of rain is absent, many sixes outside the boundary are anticipated.

Furthermore, given Sanju Samson's consistent poor performance, there is great hope that young talent Vaibhav Suryavanshi will earn a spot in the starting lineup. It is worth noting that Nitish Kumar Reddy, Abhishek Sharma, and Ishan Kishan, who play for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL, will be at the home ground today, and these strong players are expected to make another big contribution.
