Arthur Zwane stays at AmaZulu despite interest from Bafana Bafana

Arthur Zwane feels comfortable at AmaZulu, making his departure unlikely even with an offer from Bafana Bafana.

Zwane is demonstrating excellent results at AmaZulu, leading the team to an impressive start to the season: they are in third place in the table with six wins, one draw, and one loss. In addition to sporting achievements, he has established himself as a friendly mentor to the players.

Various video clips show the 53-year-old coach interacting and joking with his players and staff while relaxing, which indicates team cohesion outside of intense match moments.

Despite this success and positive atmosphere, Zwane has attracted attention, including from Bafana, to become part of Coach Pitso Mosimane's technical team. However, this has not materialized yet, and even if it did, it would be difficult for him to leave the club.

Zwane noted that the decision to move will not be easy. He stated: 'For me, it won't be a simple decision just to say: 'tomorrow I want to leave'. Time will tell, but I like it here. I am developing, and this is a challenge that I needed as a coach.'

Besides being open to interacting with players off the field while maintaining strictness during games, Zwane has expanded his leadership role within the technical staff, understanding that success is achieved through collective effort. He emphasized that he does not act as the 'sole' coach but treats his technical team as equals.

He added: 'When other coaches conduct training, they feel like the head coaches. Even when analysts present their analysis, I give them the responsibility to take the initiative. They have done wonders; they are gaining a lot of experience. The atmosphere is healthy because it helps everyone grow. We are growing in status and as a team.'

Although he may have needed a second full season of sole management to fully realize his potential—he started working three seasons ago as an assistant coach alongside Busumuzi Vilakazi—he never doubted that the team could come together.

Zwane recalled how the president explained his goals and the type of coach he wanted for the project, and he felt he was exactly that coach. He said: 'Together with Coach Kanu, I feel we will achieve great success. Despite starting slowly, we have grown in status.'

He also noted that the president gave them freedom in working with players and understood the situation. 'The support we receive from both fans and management is unparalleled.'

AmaZulu Coach Arthur Zwane Pleased with Reduced Dependence on Thandolwenkosi Ngwenyi After Victory Over Durban City

Arthur Zwane, head coach of AmaZulu FC, felt satisfaction and pride watching new names appear in the goalscorers list. The team's victory over Durban City in the Durban derby took place on Tuesday evening at Chatsworth Stadium with a score of 2-1, thanks to goals scored in the first half by Mlondi Mbandjwa and Athini Makokolo.

Nevertheless, the coach continued to express regret over missed 'clear-cut scoring opportunities' that could have given the team a more significant advantage in the match.

Currently, Zwane is not under pressure at AmaZulu, as the win secured the team a spot in the top three of the league. For the season, AmaZulu won six out of eight matches played and accumulated 19 points, trailing second-place Orlando Pirates by only two points, but leading fourth-placed Kaizer Chiefs by five points.

The reason for Zwane's relief regarding the appearance of new names in the scorers list was that in the seven matches preceding the first break of the season according to FIFA regulations, all the team's goals were scored exclusively by one player—Thandolwenkosi Ngwenyi. This Zimbabwean forward leads the Betway Premiership top scorer table with eight goals in the championship.

During the post-match press conference, Zwane expressed regret that he could have scored another goal. Commenting on the game, Zwane stated: 'Let me start by congratulating the players on the victory and good play. As in other games before this, we should have scored three or four goals in the first half. Not half-chances—I am talking about full chances. We did not convert them.'

He continued that in the second half, the team created more opportunities again, and he repeatedly reminded the players in the dressing room about the need to be ruthless. 'In the second half, we had chances to score again, not half-chances—I am talking about full chances.'

Zwane detailed the missed opportunities: 'Pule Ekstein had a one-on-one chance, but he made a bad decision and passed it sideways. Another shot hit the post, and Mlondi collected the rebound to pass Ngwenyi for a finish. But he allowed the goalkeeper to save it.'

The coach concluded that the match was too tense, and all these moments were critical. He noted numerous turnovers and instances where the team could have passed the ball to the right player and taken the opportunity to score. 'I think our rhythm was slightly disrupted due to the recent break. But, as I always say, it is important to collect three points to continue the game from where we stopped.'
