Ebola cases in Kenya reach eight, no reports of community transmission yet

Kenya's Director of Health, Patrick Amot, reported on Sunday that another Ebola case has been confirmed in the country, bringing the total number of infections to eight.

The latest identified patient is a 49-year-old man who provided assistance to the first Ebola patient. This initial patient died at Nairobi Hospital two days after arriving from Congo via Uganda.

In an interview with Citizen TV, Amot stated that 38 people were tested on the day, and one of them tested positive for Ebola.

He clarified that this 49-year-old man is not a healthcare worker. His symptoms included fever, headache, and muscle aches. Amot suggested that the man, who worked as an assistant to the patient, cleaning dishes and laundry, likely came into contact with the first Ebola case detected earlier this month.

Currently, there are no signs of virus transmission among the population in Kenya.
