National Commission for Women's Rights Report Calls for Reform of Childcare System in India

Indian investors have gained the ability to work directly with US stock exchanges. As part of a significant step to meet the growing demand for global diversification, major retail brokerage firms Angel One and Zerodha are officially expanding access to US stocks.

Angel One has begun phased implementation of this feature through its application, allowing select users to trade American stocks and ETFs alongside their Indian assets, with a full-scale launch planned for mid-November.

Despite the fact that opening a trading account in India takes only a few minutes, many retail traders feel uncertain about their investments. This gap became a central theme of Dale Vaz's speech at the TechSparks 2026 conference. Co-founder and CEO of the fintech company Sahi noted that while fintech has solved the access problem over the last decade, it has not solved the results problem.

Vaz explained how Sahi's Kyro platform helps investors make decisions using artificial intelligence. The discussion on artificial intelligence continued at the 17th edition of TechSparks last week, where Nitin Jain from ShareChat and Moj, Ajit Narayanan from Angel One, Srividya Srinivasan from Amagi, and Ankit Maheshwari from Innovaccer discussed how Indian tech companies can remain competitive in an AI-driven market.

In the context of technological development, India is at a turning point in private defense technologies. Operation Sindoor has opened up new opportunities for domestic companies developing critical military technologies, thanks to accelerated procurement procedures and direct interaction with the armed forces.

Key Takeaways from the NCW Report

The National Commission for Women of India (NCW) presented an innovative report proposing a complete overhaul of maternity and childcare systems in the country. The goal of this proposal is to ensure that having a child does not become an obstacle to a woman's career. The report contains 37 recommendations calling for a shift in focus from childcare being solely the mother's responsibility to a public and shared responsibility.

These recommendations aim to address the gap that arises after the end of the 26-week maternity leave, when the long period of child-rearing begins.
