Guide on how to install applications on Samsung TVs with the Tizen system

Samsung Smart TVs use an official store integrated into the Tizen system, which provides access to various entertainment options, including games, streaming services, and screen customization tools.

The process for adding a new application involves using the store's search function, looking for the desired software, and requesting the download. The system itself performs the download and configuration automatically in just a few seconds.

To install an application on the latest version of the Tizen system, the procedure consists of five steps. First, press the 'Home' button on the remote control to access the TV's main screen. Next, locate and access the 'Search' option located on the left side of the screen.

The user must move the cursor to the search field at the top of the screen and click to activate the virtual keyboard. After typing the name of the application intended to be installed on the Samsung Smart TV, navigate through the presented results and click on the icon corresponding to the software. This will open the official application page, detailing its information and requirements.

On the software page, select the 'Install' option to start the download. Once completed, the configuration process occurs automatically. Subsequently, you can select 'Open' to start using the application immediately, or choose 'Add to Home Screen' to keep it accessible in the Smart TV menu.

Older Samsung TV models running the Tizen system and featuring the Smart Hub interface require a slightly different installation method. If the application is not available in the Samsung store, the cause may be a regional limitation or incompatibility with the Tizen system. In such cases, it is recommended to try updating the software and restarting the television to check if the store offers new compatible content.

Alternatively, you can mirror content from your mobile phone using features like Smart View or AirPlay, which eliminates the need to install apps directly on the Samsung TV. Techniques such as sideloading are discouraged, as they require advanced development knowledge and pose security risks to the device.

If the Samsung TV is old and no longer receives updates, the most practical solution is to incorporate a streaming device. A dongle connected to the HDMI port modernizes the system and allows access to current applications. Devices like Fire TV or Chromecast offer complete stores and facilitate direct mirroring from the mobile phone, providing an economical alternative to extend the device's lifespan without compromising security.

It is important to note that it is not possible to natively install the Google Play Store on a Samsung TV because the brand's operating system is Tizen, and the official Google store does not have inherent compatibility with the television interface.

For those who need to install applications that depend on the Android ecosystem, the recommendation is to connect a streaming device via HDMI. Devices such as Chromecast with Google TV provide the integrated store, turning the Smart TV into a mere monitor.

It is possible to remove incorrectly installed applications from the Samsung TV. To free up storage space, simply access the applications section using the remote control, select the program in question, and confirm its deletion in the menu. However, certain factory pre-installed software cannot be removed as they are an integral part of the operating system; in these scenarios, the best approach is simply to hide or reorganize the shortcut on the home screen to keep the interface organized.
