Negotiations took place in Uzbekistan with the American companies Wabtec and Traxys, during which issues regarding the supply of locomotives with long-term maintenance, the creation of service centers for quarry equipment, as well as the implementation of projects for deep processing of valuable minerals and the production of industrial products were discussed.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held this meeting on October 19. During negotiations with Rafael Santana, who is the chairman of the board of directors and CEO of Wabtec, the parties focused on modernizing and increasing the fleet of locomotives, which aligns with the development of the country's railway infrastructure and transit potential.
The possibility of obtaining locomotives with guaranteed long-term service support with the backing of financial institutions from the USA was considered. Furthermore, the organization of technical maintenance of railway equipment directly in Uzbekistan, the production of necessary components, and the training of qualified specialists were discussed.
Participants also addressed the topic of creating a service center intended for servicing quarry equipment used in mining enterprises, as well as cooperation in the field of diesel generator sets.
The discussion with Mark Christoph, CEO of Traxys, was dedicated to critical minerals and the deep processing of raw resources. The parties intentionally discussed joint initiatives for producing finished industrial products with high added value using American technologies.
As noted during the meeting, cooperation with Traxys has significantly increased over the past year: relevant contractual agreements have been signed, and a regional office of the company has been opened in Tashkent, making it the first in Central Asia. Traxys specializes in the procurement, logistics, financing, and realization of critical raw materials and minerals, operating in more than twenty countries.
