An incident that is being considered potential animal cruelty was witnessed in Samarkand. According to eyewitnesses, a man attached a dog to a scooter and dragged it along the asphalt road. He only stopped after tourists began filming the scene, causing outrage.
After stopping, the dog was on the ground and could not raise itself on its paws. Judging by its appearance, the animal may have suffered serious paw injuries.
Human rights activist and public figure Elena Babenko received information about this case via private messages and requested coverage of the incident concerning animal cruelty.
Witnesses reported that the man was moving on the scooter, dragging the tied dog behind him, with two children nearby. They plan to file a report with law enforcement but fear that without wide public attention, no investigation will take place.
It is now expected that the Samarkand law enforcement agencies will review the received information, conduct an inspection, and determine the legal assessment of what happened. Currently, there is no information regarding the dog's condition.
It should be noted that previously in Tashkent, the author of a video where adults tied a rope around a cat's neck and handed it to a child was fined for animal cruelty.
