The Delhi government has approved the establishment of the Go-Delhi Fund with an initial capital of 50 crore rupees to support young innovators and startups, as stated in a CMO release on Sunday.
This decision was made at a recent Cabinet meeting chaired by Minister-in-Chief Rekha Gupta. The fund is intended to finance the transformation of ideas into ready-to-market products.
Delhi is a hub for nearly 21,000 startups officially recognized by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT).
The primary goal of the fund is to stimulate entrepreneurship, innovation, and startup growth in the capital. It will provide comprehensive support to young people, researchers, and entrepreneurs necessary to turn their concepts into viable businesses and practical products.
The government has also allocated an initial budget of 50 crore rupees. These funds, channeled through the Go-Delhi Fund, will be consolidated on a single platform, focusing on fostering new enterprises, attracting investment, and creating jobs, according to the Delhi CMO statement.
Gupta noted that the fund will help Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), as well as startups, gain access to product design, prototyping, laboratory testing, and testing ground services. Furthermore, it will provide technical guidance, mentorship, incubation, business support, and investor networking opportunities, helping transform early ideas into market-ready solutions.
This initiative will support entrepreneurs at all stages—from product development and testing to certification preparation and market entry. According to Gupta, this will reduce reliance on disparate facilities for various needs and simplify the process of business creation and growth in Delhi.
Gupta added that government departments can present their real challenges to Delhi innovators through this fund. Products and technologies developed to solve these problems can be tested within pilot projects, and successful solutions will be implemented.
This will allow government bodies to become familiar with new technologies and practical solutions while enabling startups to demonstrate the utility of their products.
The fund will also collaborate with industry, educational institutions, investors, and other partners. It will adopt a 'hub and spoke' model, providing programs through existing facilities and partner institutions across Delhi, as indicated in the statement.
The fund will be established as a non-profit company under Section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013, and will operate under the aegis of the Delhi Government's Department of Industries.
