Tehran will host the Royan International Congress, which will include the 28th Congress on Reproductive Biomedicine, the 23rd Congress on Stem Cell Biology and Technologies, and the 22nd Seminar on Obstetrics and Nursing. The event is scheduled for September 1 to 3, 2027.
The goal of this three-day event is to exchange knowledge and experience, demonstrate the latest research achievements and new technologies, and strengthen interaction between scientists and experts, laying the foundation for scientific cooperation at national and international levels. As reported by IRNA, the first two congresses will be conducted in English, while the last one will be in Persian.
Over the past two decades, the Royan International Congress has served as a platform for presenting scientific results, contributing to the formation of professional partnerships and the expansion of research collaboration among both domestic and foreign researchers.
Faculty members, researchers, medical professionals, and students are invited to submit their scientific abstracts. The deadline for submitting abstracts for the upcoming Royan International Congress is April 20, 2027.
In 2026, 447 articles were accepted out of a total of 589 submitted. These included 197 posters and 7 articles at the Congress on Reproductive Biomedicine; 186 posters and nine articles at the Congress on Stem Cell Biology and Technologies; and 45 posters and three lectures at the Seminar on Obstetrics and Nursing.
At the 27th Congress on Reproductive Biomedicine, 31 speakers participated, including eight representatives from England, Australia, Belgium, Russia, Italy, Germany, and Switzerland, who participated online. Among the 34 presenters at the 23rd Congress on Stem Cell Biology and Technologies, there were representatives from Turkey, Russia, Malaysia, Canada, the USA, and the Netherlands. Additionally, 19 Iranian scientists gave lectures at the 21st Seminar on Obstetrics and Nursing.
Royan Institute
The Royan Institute was founded in 1991 on the initiative of the late Dr. Said Kazemi Ashtiani and a group of researchers and physicians from the Iranian Academy of Medical Sciences Educational, Cultural, and Research Center (ACECR). Initially, it functioned as an outpatient surgery center to provide medical care to infertile couples, as well as for conducting research and training in reproductive sciences.
Since 2000, reproductive biomedicine and stem cell biology have proven to be one of the most successful examples of scientific gathering in Iran and West Asia. In 2002, the research areas of the Royan Institute were also expanded to include the study of stem cells. Subsequently, the research findings were adapted for application in regenerative medicine approaches and cell therapy.
After three decades, the Royan Institute has focused its efforts on increasing the success rate of infertility treatment, as well as improving the health of embryos and public health levels through clinical cell therapy services. Over these twenty years of active participation in exchanging scientific knowledge and experience with renowned scientific institutions and scientists, the Royan Congress has helped form numerous joint scientific projects and exchanges.
