Elon Musk unveiled flying autonomous Tesla car

Tesla CEO Elon Musk presented a vehicle he called 'flying,' equipped with engines, during an event broadcast held at his rocket company SpaceX facility on Thursday.

To date, the flying car sector, which has generated significant interest, has been unable to develop due to technical and regulatory complexities.

Musk demonstrated his new sports car, the Roadster, during a launch at the SpaceX test site in Texas. During the demonstration, which was streamed via Tesla's account on X, the car took off from a steep ramp and landed on its wheels.

During the event, Musk stated: 'Flying cars are real.' He added that 'the success of the vehicle is not guaranteed,' but believes that 'it will probably work.'

According to Musk, the car is equipped with 'ultra-high pressure air tanks' for takeoff. The technology billionaire characterized this development as the result of cooperation between 'the best car company in the world and the best rocket company in the world,' referring to Tesla and SpaceX.

He announced that production of this car will begin in 2028. It is worth noting that the first prototype of a flying car was first presented by American aviation pioneer Glenn Curtiss in 1917. However, serious attention to successful designs has only been paid in recent years due to progress in electric motors and high-performance batteries.
