The framework program of global standards in vocational and technical education, known as the Peking Agreement, was jointly unveiled by 45 countries. The closing ceremony of the Conference on the Development of Global Vocational and Technical Education 2026 took place on October 17 in Tianjin, China.
Under China's leadership, this framework program defines general principles and practical methods for vocational education. These methods include strengthening interaction between educational institutions and industry, supporting lifelong learning, practical training, and the application of artificial intelligence in teaching.
The main goal of the agreement is to stimulate economic and social progress, expand equal opportunities, and strengthen international partnership in skills development.
During the closing ceremony, the Ministry of Education of China signed memorandums of understanding on vocational education cooperation with thirteen countries. Furthermore, Chinese educational institutions concluded agreements with eleven foreign institutions in six fields, including the automotive sector and telecommunications. These agreements cover cooperation in curriculum development, syllabus design, and teacher training.
