An integrated industrial corridor, Jabalpur-Bhopal-Indore, will be established in Madhya Pradesh to accelerate industrial development. This corridor, spanning approximately 600 kilometers, will connect three major cities of the state: Jabalpur, Bhopal, and Indore.
The state government has set a goal to develop 10 thousand acres of industrial land, attract investments worth 100 billion rupees, and create over 300 thousand direct and indirect jobs under this project by March 2028.
Madhya Pradesh Government's Plan for the Industrial Corridor
Madhya Pradesh Minister Mohan Yadav presented the government's roadmap during an event held at Sanvad Bhavan, located in the state chief's residence. He emphasized that the integrated Jabalpur-Bhopal-Indore industrial corridor marks the beginning of a new era in the industrial history of Madhya Pradesh.
The corridor is expected to stimulate economic activity between the eastern, central, and western parts of the state, benefiting not only the seven districts within its perimeter but also the bordering territories.
The plan involves creating an integrated network covering not only industry but also agriculture, logistics, technology, and the service sector.
Implementation Schedule and Project Structure
The government has defined timelines for the corridor's development. According to Mohan Yadav, a land use map and master plan will be prepared within the next three to six months. Following this, work on developing industrial zones and necessary infrastructure is scheduled to begin within six to twelve months.
To implement the project, the state will establish a wholly-owned Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), into which an initial investment of 100 million rupees will be made.
Key Objectives by March 2028
Three key objectives have been set for this project: 10 thousand acres of industrial land must be developed by the end of March 2028; investments totaling 100 billion rupees must be attracted; and over 300 thousand people must be employed directly and indirectly.
Regional Specialization
Sector development is planned based on the industrial potential of different areas. Jabalpur and the Mahakaushal region are expected to benefit significantly. The government intends to transform Jabalpur into a major industrial hub and a key node for mechanical engineering, defense industry, aerospace auxiliary products, food processing, and logistics.
In the districts of Narsinghpur and Raisen, the focus will be on promoting food processing and food parks. The Bhopal region will develop as a center for technology, electronics, IT, and knowledge services, with plans to create common business infrastructure. Meanwhile, the Sihore-Devas district will stimulate food processing and warehousing. The Indore region will develop in the directions of IT, advanced manufacturing, and logistics, including other investment sectors.
The government asserts that investors will be provided with essential utilities such as electricity, water, and roads in advance as part of the development of the new economic corridor.
Appreciation from Entrepreneurs
Representatives of industrial and trade organizations, including the Mahakaushal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav after the approval of the integrated Jabalpur-Bhopal-Indore industrial corridor. Minister of Public Works Rakesh Singh and President of the Mahakaushal Chamber of Commerce and Industry Ravi Gupta were also present at the event. Entrepreneurs from 11 districts of the Mahakaushal region also thanked the government for the cabinet's approval of the corridor.
