There is important news for IPL fans: the date and venue for the IPL 2027 season mini-auction have been determined. According to information provided by the BCCI logistics team, this time the bidding will take place within the country, specifically in Goa.
According to Cricbuzz, the IPL 2027 mini-auction is scheduled for December 16th at the well-known ITC Grand Hotel in Goa. However, official emails have not yet been sent to franchise owners and CEOs.
The BCCI logistics team notified the teams about this via WhatsApp messages to organize travel and logistics. Furthermore, one day before the auction, on December 15th, a special briefing for the auction will be held at the same location so that all franchises can prepare.
Of particular significance is the return of the IPL auction to Indian soil after a three-year hiatus. India previously hosted the auction in 2023. Following that, auctions were held abroad for three consecutive years: in Dubai in 2024, in Jeddah (Mega-auction) in 2025, and in Abu Dhabi in 2026.
It is worth noting that Royal Challengers Bengaluru, led by Rajat Patidar, is the reigning champion. The team won the title two years in a row—in 2025 and 2026. Now attention is focused on which team each franchise will strengthen by bidding on major players at the mini-auction in Goa on December 16th.
Interestingly, the auction date coincides with the day of the match between India and Sri Lanka in ODI format in Bangalore. While Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, and other experienced stars will be playing for their country on the field, their franchises in Goa will be bidding on their future and team composition.
