Uzbekistan and Malaysia have signed an agreement to expand cooperation in training specialists for the semiconductor industry, including microelectronics development and technological research.
The agreements were signed between organizations and higher education institutions of both countries during the working trip of the Uzbek delegation to Malaysia, according to the Information Service of the Department of Communications of the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan.
As part of the first stage of the visit to Kuala Lumpur, the delegation familiarized itself with the activities of the IC Design Park complex and the Malaysian organization MIMOS Berhad. Participants toured laboratories and technological bases used for manufacturing semiconductor wafers, prototyping microelectronic devices, testing integrated circuits, and assessing their reliability.
The delegation also attended the Selangor AI & Semiconductor Summit 2026, where it held meetings with companies operating in the artificial intelligence and semiconductor sectors.
Memoranda of cooperation were signed between the Technical University of Uzbekistan, ToshTech, and Malaysian entities ASEM Academy and Great ASIC. A separate agreement links Cyber University with Malaysian universities Asia e University (AeU) and Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU), as well as with the company AlphaSwift.
These agreements provide for the training of qualified personnel, exchange of experience in advanced technologies, implementation of scientific and applied projects, and strengthening interaction between industrial enterprises and educational institutions.
The working trip of the Uzbek delegation is ongoing, with the second stage planned in Penang. The Ministry has not provided additional information on specific training programs or timelines for joint projects.
