Delegation from Andijan region of Uzbekistan visited Vitebsk region of Belarus to discuss cooperation

A delegation from the Andijan region of Uzbekistan, led by Governor Shukhratbek Abdurakhmonov, made a working trip to the Vitebsk region of Belarus. During the visit, the parties discussed prospects for interaction in the fields of education, agriculture, and joint investment projects.

The visit program began with the unveiling of a memorial plaque honoring Uzbek soldiers who died during the liberation of Vitebsk. Representatives of the Andijan delegation, Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Alexander Rogozhnik, and the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Belarus attended the event. The participants paid tribute to the fallen soldiers by laying flowers at the memorial. The memory of over 17,900 soldiers is honored, more than 700 of whom were born in Uzbekistan, about 50 of whom came from the Andijan region.

As part of the trip, the delegation visited Vitebsk State University, where they familiarized themselves with the organization of educational activities, scientific research, and the university's capabilities. Opportunities to expand partnership between educational institutions of the two regions were discussed, as well as exchanging experience to improve the quality of education and promoting academic mobility for teachers and students. The parties also considered joint educational programs and research projects.

Shukhratbek Abdurakhmonov met with students from the Andijan region who are studying, interning, or improving their qualifications in Vitebsk State University in Belarus. He requested information on study and living conditions, as well as the problems and suggestions of these students. Special attention was paid to supporting students and creating conditions for developing their professional skills.

Agricultural cooperation was another topic of negotiations. The company Andijan Mayak LLC was established in the Ushachinsky district of the Vitebsk region and plans to develop animal husbandry with the participation of investors from Uzbekistan. Alexander Rogozhnik and Shukhratbek Abdurakhmonov visited this district and discussed the potential for implementing this initiative. It is expected that the project will help unite the agrarian potential of both regions, facilitate experience exchange, and expand investment cooperation.

The goal of the entire visit is to strengthen ties between the Andijan and Vitebsk regions, develop cooperation in science and education, support youth, and promote joint economic endeavors.
