Kaizer Chiefs confirm no broadcast for Confederation of African Football match

Fans of Kaizer Chiefs will not be able to watch the team's match in the Confederation Cup of African Football against Red Arrows live, as the club informed IOL Sport that the game on Saturday will not be broadcast anywhere.

The Chiefs team will meet the Zambian club at Levi Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola at 15:00 in the first match of the second preliminary round. This means that fans will have to follow match updates instead of watching the game in real time as 'Amakhosi' advance to the group stage of the Confederation Cup.

The lack of broadcasting will cause disappointment among Chiefs fans who hoped to follow the team's continental campaign, especially those who cannot travel to Zambia for this encounter. Chiefs aim to achieve a positive result away from home before the return match scheduled for Friday, October 23, at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.

Although 'Amakhosi' fans will miss watching the game live on Saturday, South African football fans will be able to see another local club's performance on public television the next day. The club 'Durban City', also participating in the Confederation Cup, is scheduled to be shown on SABC 1 the following day, offering viewers an alternative weekend match.

The difference in broadcast availability highlights the unequal access of fans to South African clubs participating in both domestic and continental competitions. For Chiefs, the priority will be to play strongly in Ndola and gain an advantage before the second round, despite the inability to watch the match live.
