Government lowers admission score for master's dental program due to vacant spots

Due to the availability of open positions, the government has significantly lowered the qualification threshold for postgraduate education programs in dentistry. This is happening for the second consecutive year amid unfilled spots in the Master's in Dentistry (MDS) program.

The qualification percentile for NEET-MDS 2026 was reduced by 20,576 points across all categories. This move followed a reduction of 19,863 points in 2025.

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) announced 460 net vacancies and 762 virtual vacancies for the second round of MDS counselling this year.
