Working in deliveries has become a viable way to generate income using a private vehicle, eliminating the need to interact with passengers. Several companies, such as Mercado Livre, Amazon, Shopee, Lalamove, and Total Express, offer the possibility of making deliveries with passenger cars.
Although each platform has its own rules and requirements, all require the delivery person to have a CNPJ or be an MEI. Furthermore, it is mandatory that the National Driver's License (CNH) be valid for paid activity (EAR) and that the automobile be registered in the driver's name.
App delivery drivers receive payment for each delivery, and routes are planned in advance. The type and quantity of packages accepted depend on the vehicle used, ranging from hatchbacks and sedans to SUVs and vans.
Regarding vehicle age limits, Amazon and Mercado Livre set a ceiling of 15 years, while Shopee requires a limit of 20 years; Lalamove does not impose this restriction. For this specific list, a cutoff criterion of 10 years of age was adopted, considering vehicles with a maximum cost of R$ 50k.
The most obvious choice for this purpose would be the Fiat Fiorino, but the van derived from the Uno has high appreciation in the used market. For this reason, its larger model, the Doblo, was chosen. This vehicle shares the 1.4 Fire engine of the Fiorino, generating 86 hp. Its larger size allows it to carry up to 3,200 liters of cargo, supporting 620 kg, and offers the convenience of a sliding side door.
As a more modern option than the Fiat Doblo for large delivery volumes, the Peugeot Partner stands out. Despite criticisms regarding the reliability of French brand cars, the Partner is considered a safe model. Its 1.6 16v engine is seen as one of the most resistant from Peugeot and remained in line until 2024 in the Citroën C4 Cactus. The Partner can carry up to 800 kg and has a trunk capacity of 3,000 liters; like the Doblo, it features a sliding side door.
The Renault Logan stands out for its ample interior space and 510-liter trunk, which is a great advantage for app deliveries, ensuring that packages fit comfortably. In the 2021 version, it already comes equipped with the 1.0 three-cylinder SCe engine, which has a timing chain for the valve train and generates 82 hp. This engine is also economical, presenting an average of 13.6 km/l in the city with gasoline.
The Chevrolet Spin boasts the largest trunk among national passenger cars, with 710 liters. This minivan is also recognized for its robustness, thanks to the well-known 1.8 Family 1 engine. Models with a 2017 manual transmission already include a six-speed gearbox, electric steering, and improvements aimed at reducing consumption. If automatic transmission comfort is desired within the R$ 50k budget, a 2016 unit will need to be considered.
Hatchbacks are also suitable for operating on major delivery platforms. An economical and reliable suggestion is the Toyota Etios 1.3 X 2017, the entry-level version of the compact. It has a 98 hp engine and, in the 2017 model, already comes with a six-speed gearbox, variable valve timing, and a digital dashboard. Another benefit of the Etios is its reduced turning diameter of only 9.6 meters, facilitating maneuvers on narrow streets.
