Heavy rains hit Al Ain, causing road flooding; Abu Dhabi Police issued a warning

On Friday, October 16, parts of the United Arab Emirates experienced heavy rainfall as dark clouds gathered over Al Ain and thunder sounded in Malakah. The rains led to some roads becoming flooded.

Video footage published by the Storm Center showed the sky over the Al Ain area turning gray as rain poured down on the region. In some places, water accumulated on the road surface, negatively affecting driving conditions.

In light of the forecast for further precipitation amid changing weather conditions, the Abu Dhabi Police issued an official warning. They strongly urged drivers to adhere to traffic safety rules and exercise caution while driving.

These downpours were part of a period of unstable weather across the country. Earlier, on Thursday, October 15, heavy rains and hail were observed in various parts of the UAE. Videos appeared online showing cars driving on wet roads, and people collecting pieces of hail on highways in Sharjah.

Previously, the National Center of Meteorology (NCM) had warned about the possibility of precipitation in some regions of the UAE that day. It also issued yellow and orange alerts regarding thunderstorms and rain, which were valid until 9:00 PM the same day.
