The Delhi Capitals franchise announced the start of pre-season training ahead of the IPL 2027 season by posting a message 'Work has begun' on social media. Along with this, the team released a 25-second video from the training center, although the franchise did not disclose the location of the training.
In the video, 34-year-old Karun Nair practices shots at the net in full batting gear. The recording shows him facing balls, executing drives and other shots. During this process, Delhi Capitals assistant and batting coach Yuvraj Singh provides him with constant feedback.
The coach noted Karun's shots with phrases such as 'beautiful head,' 'shot!', and 'good hands, Karun!'. The video demonstrates not only shot practice but also Yuvraj's close attention to the training process. It should be noted that 44-year-old Yuvraj will work alongside the team's head coach, Saurav Ganguly, who is 54 years old.
Yuvraj previously played for Capitals, featuring in 14 matches in 2015. Before that season, he was acquired for 16 million rupees and was considered the most expensive player in the IPL then. For the team, he scored 248 runs and took one wicket. Overall, Yuvraj played 132 matches in the IPL, scoring 2750 runs and taking 36 wickets. He retired from all formats of cricket in 2019.
Furthermore, Delhi Capitals published two videos featuring Yuvraj Singh on Friday. In one, he bats himself, and in the other, he discusses matters with Saurav Ganguly. Yuvraj stated that Saurav Ganguly specifically assigned him to conduct batting training for Delhi Capitals. He also asked him if he would like to become his assistant, to which Yuvraj replied that he has been his assistant for the last 25 years.
In recent years, many Indian players, including captains Shubman Gill, Abhishek Sharma, and Prabhsimran Singh, have mentioned Yuvraj's important role in their success as batsmen.
