The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) has shared important information regarding a popular internet browser. The agency discovered several dangerous vulnerabilities in the desktop version of the Google Chrome browser.
Cybercriminals could exploit these vulnerabilities to steal users' confidential data. The warning from the state body was issued after Google recently released a Chrome security update that identified 37 vulnerabilities affecting multiple browsers.
In a notification released by CERT-In on October 14, 2026, users were recommended to update their Google Chrome browser. Many users and companies use Google Chrome, and those still using the affected version should update.
CERT-In warned that hackers could benefit from these vulnerabilities by using them to steal personal data stored in the system and device.
The government agency advised users to update the old version of Chrome to the latest one. This will allow Chrome users to protect themselves.
According to CERT-In, the security was compromised due to vulnerabilities that affected various Chrome components, including memory management, JavaScript processing, and other browser functions.
Google Chrome users can easily check for the latest security updates. To do this, they need to click the three dots in the upper right corner, go to the Help section, select 'About Google Chrome', and check for available updates. If an update is available, it should be installed. A new update is expected to be released for everyone in the coming days.
