New Restaurants Being Introduced and Existing Establishments Updated in Kruger Park

Visitors to Kruger National Park can expect an improved gastronomic experience as new restaurant operators have been appointed in selected campsites. These changes followed a competitive tender process and coincide with the expiration of previous concession agreements.

JP Louw, Head of Communications and representative of South African National Parks (SANParks), announced that the introduction of new restaurant concepts will take place in the Lower Sabie, Pretoria, and Berg-en-Dal campsites. Additionally, the Cattle Baron restaurant in Skukuza will undergo renovations.

SANParks emphasized that the new operators will bring fresh ideas and investments to some of the park's popular campsites. These transformations are part of the park's efforts to enhance visitor experience quality and maintain tourism infrastructure.

Four Dining Spots That Will Change

Some familiar dining locations will receive a new look as part of the update to the park's food offerings. For instance, the former Mugg & Bean in Lower Sabie will be renamed Sabie River Café. In the Pretoria campsite, Wimpy will be replaced by Le Lapeng Burgers and Grill.

In the Berg-en-Dal campsite, the Tindlovu restaurant will be transformed into Eziko Eatery. Meanwhile, Cattle Baron in Skukuza will undergo reconstruction to give the restaurant a refreshed appearance and atmosphere. These changes will allow for the introduction of new concepts into the park while maintaining dining options for guests staying or passing through the campsites.

What Visitors Need to Know

The renovation works may temporarily affect service in the campsites. SANParks has notified that temporary cafeterias with limited menus will be available during the repair work to maintain service. Therefore, guests should be prepared for a reduced selection of dishes while modernizations are underway.

SANParks and the operators apologized for any inconvenience and thanked visitors for their patience. The park administration expressed hope to present the updated facilities in the coming months.

Investments in Kruger's Tourist Experience

In addition to changes in the food service sector, these appointments are part of a broader strategy to strengthen the park's tourism potential. SANParks noted that the new operators will make investments and contribute to economic growth and job creation.

For tourists, these changes promise updated leisure areas and new culinary concepts in certain campsites. When planning a trip to Kruger, travelers should take the ongoing renovation work into account when organizing meals during their stay. All improvements are expected to be implemented over the next few months.
