Chinese Premier Li Qiang participated in a symposium with representatives of foreign buyers and exhibitors at the Canton Fair in Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong province in southern China, on Wednesday. He called on Chinese and foreign companies to actively contribute to aligning global supply and demand, as well as to lead international innovative cooperation.
The symposium in Guangzhou, where the Canton Fair will take place from October 15 to November 4, was attended by about 70 business representatives from nearly 30 countries and regions.
Speaking after presentations from foreign buyers and exhibitors, Li noted that over the past 70 years since its founding, the Canton Fair has developed alongside China's opening up and growth. He emphasized that the fair is not only a vivid calling card of China's opening to the world but also an important window through which the world can observe China.
Li added that the Canton Fair, as one of the world's trade platforms with a full range of goods and high efficiency, brings together advanced products and technologies. He considers it a grand venue for trading traditional goods and a barometer of the development of new forms of trade.
The Premier stated that in recent years, participants of the Canton Fair have been involved in more diverse business exchanges and are gradually transforming into comprehensive partners. He noted that China will continue to develop an open and innovative ecosystem, strengthen the protection of intellectual property rights related to foreign interests, and actively solve enterprises' problems.
He also promised that China will continue to optimize the investment environment for foreign investors, expand market access, and support foreign enterprises in local production. Furthermore, the process of creating a modern industrial system, as well as promoting the planning and construction of new energy grids, computing power networks, and next-generation communication networks, will be accelerated.
Li urged companies from all countries to invest more in China, deepen their presence in the Chinese market, strengthen mutually beneficial and practical cooperation in industrial supply chains, and promote the formation of open and inclusive global industrial and raw material chains.
In addition, Li called for improving the digital and intelligent characteristics of the Canton Fair, expanding the range of green products and exhibition areas, stimulating green trade, and highlighting the humanitarian aspects of the fair.
Business representatives noted that amid the deep restructuring of global production and supply chains, the competitiveness of 'Made in China' products is growing daily, making a significant contribution to the development of the world economy. They also stated that the Canton Fair is the most reliable global business platform, and the Chinese government is constantly implementing precise policies to optimize the business environment and help businesses from around the world achieve leapfrog development.
Foreign delegations expressed full confidence in China's development prospects and readiness for cooperation, innovation exchange, mutual growth promotion, and achieving mutually beneficial results.
