Wall Street firms link bonuses and promotions to artificial intelligence skills

According to the survey results, skills in artificial intelligence (AI) are beginning to influence compensation levels and career growth on Wall Street. The study found that nearly a quarter of financial firms tie salary increases, bonuses, or employee promotions to their competence in using this technology.

Furthermore, another 30% of these firms require staff to report in official performance reports on their use of AI tools. This survey was conducted by Selby Jennings, a recruitment firm specializing in financial services.

Dylan Gomez, CEO of Selby Jennings, told Reuters that companies are now not only monitoring whether employees use AI tools but also analyzing the impact of these tools on work results and contribution to business metrics.

Gomez added that although there is currently no clear formula defining what portion of compensation is tied to AI usage and performance, the situation is expected to become more structured next year.

The research indicated that 42% of surveyed companies have implemented formal criteria for assessing employees' AI skills. Additionally, 30% of companies have created dedicated teams or roles aimed at tracking whether investments in AI yield the expected results. The survey was carried out among 500 executives from the financial industry.
