China develops giant robot Neo 1, 13 feet tall; potential applications in military and industry

The Chinese company Neodra Dynamics Robotics has unveiled an impressive humanoid robot that stands 13 feet tall. Many attendees were amazed by its size during the demonstration, as its height is approximately double that of Indian wrestler The Great Khali, who is about 7 feet tall.

This heavy industrial humanoid robot was developed by Neodra Dynamics Robotics. An engineer presenting this information in their report noted that people standing next to the 13-foot robot looked very small. The robot is designed to perform industrial tasks that are difficult for humans to accomplish.

The company has not yet confirmed whether this robot will be used for military purposes in the future. However, it is reported that it is capable of lifting a weight of up to 500 kilograms with both hands. The robot's structure incorporates 39 hydraulic joints.

The Neo 1 robot, measuring 13 feet in length, was presented at the China International Industry Fair (CIIF) in 2026. It is designed to carry out work that cannot typically be performed by regular staff.

With 41 active degrees of freedom throughout its body, the Neo 1 robot can handle various complex actions. It utilizes miniature digital hydraulic actuators developed in-house by the company. Additionally, two rotating joints for the front arms are powered by electric drives.

Each hydraulic actuator used in the robots weighs about 1 kilogram. The company claims they are capable of generating continuous tonnage of thrust. According to the company, the robot can lift and hold heavy loads weighing up to 500 kilograms using both hands.

Neo 1 was created not only for strength but also for performing precise operations. The company states that the positional reproduction accuracy of this robot reaches ±0.0002 inches. This precision makes it useful not only for heavy lifting but also for tasks requiring better control, such as assembly.

The company also asserts that Neo 1 robots can be applied in nuclear facilities. Thanks to radiation-resistant hydraulic modules, it can service nuclear fuel and conduct maintenance at these sites.

There is also speculation that Neo 1 could be used in underwater engineering and mining. The company has only stated these possibilities, and their actual power and precision will be tested when the robots begin operating in real conditions.
