Investors are showing significant interest in the IPO of 'Jio Platforms'. In this regard, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has officially announced that its key digital subsidiary, 'Jio Platforms Limited' (JPL), has filed documents for the Red Herring Prospectus (RHP) with the Registrar of Companies (ROC) in Ahmedabad.
The Jio Platforms IPO is scheduled for October 21 and will close on October 23. Market experts are closely monitoring how successfully this offering can surpass all previous records of the Indian primary market.
According to a Bloomberg report, the anchor book of this major IPO is expected to attract offers worth over $20 billion (equivalent to approximately 1.67 lakh crore rupees). This offering has the potential to become the largest IPO in the country's stock market history.
Bloomberg reports that major global investment institutions, such as Fidelity, Allianz, and Capital Group, are demonstrating considerable interest in participating in the public offering of Jio Platforms shares. Although many of these organizations have refrained from official comments so far, initial trends suggest colossal demand for this offering globally.
Bloomberg previously indicated that Jio Platforms might sell its shares in a price range of 1,065 to 1,119 rupees per share. At the upper limit of the price band, slightly over 302 billion rupees could be raised, although the process is still ongoing, and a final decision or official announcement has not yet been made.
Akash Ambani, son of Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani and Managing Director of Jio Platforms, is leading the entire deal. In recent weeks, he visited major global financial centers, including Hong Kong, London, and New York, where he held several important meetings with investors. During these meetings, investors actively discussed the company's target valuation metrics, as well as future strategies for generating revenue from digital services and various platforms.
Reports indicate that Jio Platforms aims to value itself at approximately 10.3 trillion rupees (about $108 billion) through this IPO. Previously, analysts anticipated a valuation of $170 billion last year, but this valuation has been adjusted considering current market conditions.
According to the draft prospectus, the entire IPO will be a fresh issue, as existing company investors, such as Meta Platforms Inc, Alphabet Inc, Mubadala, and the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia, do not plan to sell their stakes. Based on the upper limit of the share sale, the company could raise around 302 billion rupees. Prior to this, the largest IPO in India was Hyundai Motor India, which raised about 279 billion rupees in 2024.
