The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) will no longer be limited to mobile phones and computers. Users will now be able to ask AI questions while in the vehicle and receive various types of information related to their journey. Hyundai is set to introduce such an AI voice assistant in its new Bayon model, which will function through the collaboration of Perplexity's AI technology and SoundHound AI's voice technology. According to the company, this will be Hyundai's first generative AI voice assistant in India.
With the help of Generative AI, users can now ask questions in natural language instead of specific commands, as traditional voice assistants often have to follow a particular command. If a person is planning a trip, they can ask the AI to outline their journey. This assistant will help by providing weather information along the route, finding hotels, and telling about good eateries nearby. Additionally, users can ask for information about nearby shopping spots and sports, as well as receive answers to match scores or general queries.
The main objective of this feature is to reduce the need to constantly check the phone for small pieces of information during travel. However, the company has not clarified whether an internet connection will be mandatory for operating all the AI features.
Along with this AI assistant, the vehicle will also feature a connected car navigation cockpit equipped with NVIDIA technology. This cockpit will have two curved 12.3-inch screens; one screen will display driving-related details, while the other will be used for infotainment and navigation. This system will offer features such as online navigation, split-screen, and setting controls according to personal preferences.
Keeping Indian users in mind, Hyundai has provided over 500 in-built voice commands that can be used in Hindi, English, Tamil, Bengali, and Telugu languages. Many of these commands will work even without the internet. It is important to note that the general voice commands available in these languages and the Perplexity generative AI assistant are two separate features; currently, only English language support has been mentioned for the generative AI assistant. Overall, this change shows that AI is becoming an integral part of daily technology, enabling users to perform many tasks through natural conversation rather than just pressing buttons in the future.
