The Jihlava Municipal Arena, located in the center of Jihlava, Czech Republic, is a complex dedicated to sports and culture, with a capacity to host 5,650 spectators.
The project was developed by the architecture firm CHYBÍK + KRIŠTOF and was commissioned through a competition held by the Jihlava city hall. The presented design is notably expressive, yet it also demonstrates sensitivity at different scales.
This project includes everything from careful integration with the surrounding urban environment and its striking facade, to seating designed with specialized acoustic treatment and an exclusive typography for the venue.
In addition to serving as the new home for the local ice hockey team, HC Dukla Jihlava, this large red structure functions as a renewed cultural and civic hub for the city's inhabitants.
